Better Broadway BID envisions a luminous, impeccably clean Broadway from 80th to 110th Street—running through one of the densest and wealthiest ZIP codes in the United States—where spotless sidewalks, vibrant storefronts, and an inviting sense of grandeur elevate New York’s Upper West Side to a level worthy of its global reputation.
Our #1 focus is cleanliness. From the sidewalks, to the streetpoles, to the gutters, to the tree pits, to the subway station entrances, the whole district needs a strong power washer.
We need a renewed focus on quality of life and family friendly norm enforcement. Lighting, cameras and renewed attention by city services will improve the business environment and resident quality of life.
From Columbus Circle to 168th Street, a ribbon of New York City parkland winds its way along Broadway. This strip of trees, shrubs, and seasonal plantings, known as the Broadway Malls, creates a “front yard” for the district.
Discover a diverse array of restaurants, cafes, and eateries offering cuisine from around the world. The most popular food of all is pizza, our district has 13 pizza places along Broadway from slice shops to award winning restaurants.
The Upper West Side is home to over 30,000 children (That’s enough youngsters to fill Yankee Stadium, twice.) with a proliferation of storefronts devoted to math help, tutoring, clothes making, skateboarding and more.
The district is home to many grocery stores, bakeries, coffee shops and a few legendary specialty food retailers selling smoked fish, fresh meats, Amish cheese, Kosher treats and more.
Broadway has everything. From hardware stores, appliance stores, stationary stores to book stores, shoe stores, clothes and much more.
We have Theaters, Performance centers, and beautiful architecture.
